Election Information 2024


Dear Citizens of Macon County,

It is my privilege and responsibility as the Macon County Judge of Probate to provide you with important information regarding the upcoming election in our great state of Alabama.

Key Dates for the 2024 Election:

  1. Primary Election: March 5, 2024 - The primary election will be a crucial step in determining the candidates who will represent their respective parties in the general election. It's your chance to have a say in choosing the leaders who will shape our future.

  2. Voter Registration Deadline for Primary:  To participate in the primary election, you must ensure that you are registered to vote by this date. If you have recently moved or need to update your voter registration, please visit our local Board of Registrars.

  3. Primary Runoff Election (if necessary): June 21, 2024 - In the event that no candidate receives a majority vote during the primary, a runoff election will be held to determine the party's nominee for certain positions.

  4. General Election: November 5, 2024 - The general election is when we, as citizens, cast our votes for various offices, including those at the federal, state, and local levels. It's an opportunity to make your voice heard and choose the leaders who will represent your interests.

  5. Voter Registration Deadline for General Election: October 20, 2024 - If you missed the primary registration deadline, don't miss this one. Ensure that your voter registration is up to date so you can participate in the general election.

  6. Absentee Voting: If you anticipate being unable to vote in person due to reasons such as travel, illness, or military service, you can request an absentee ballot. The deadlines for requesting and returning absentee ballots will be provided closer to the election.

As your Judge of Probate, I am committed to ensuring that our electoral process is fair, accessible, and secure. It's imperative that every eligible citizen exercises their right to vote, as it's the cornerstone of our democracy.
