The Macon County Compliance Office enforces Macon County ordinances that concern safety and quality of life.  Specific responsibilities include monitoring for compliance with laws regulating the following:

• Animal Control
• Business Licenses
• Criminal Littering
• Noise Ordinance
• Public Nuisances
• Sewage & Septic Tanks
• Solid Waste/Trash Cans

Responsible for Macon County's entire jurisdiction, the Macon County Compliance Office looks for violations and issues citations and also works closely with the local, state and federal agencies in this effort.

The first Monday in November through the first week in December is the signup period for trash exemption (for limited income/ Social Security recipients).  Approvals must be made directly through the Macon County Commission for citizens who opt to dispose of their own trash.
